QOTW: Blogaversary! How did your blogging adventure begin?

Today is my one-year blogaversary! I've been blogging for a whole year, and I've loved every moment of it. I would not change a thing. Well, except for being better at balancing my time.

Feeling rather nostalgic, I went back to my first blog post. After re-reading it, I thought back to how no one commented on it and the next two blog posts; how I had no followers and no real idea of what blogging really meant.

Then I discovered Microfiction Monday and found the point of blogging - sharing my ongoing writing adventures with new life forms and civilisations ...I mean new people ...exploring new writing worlds and going where no woman ...I mean many aspiring writers have been before. My blogging adventure had begun. Taking part in the weekly meme helped me to find other like-minded people and for them to find me, and I'd recommend any new bloggers to do the same.

Now don your party hats and raise your glasses, because I'd like to thank everyone who has visited my blog, supported me, and given me the courage to follow my dreams over the last year. My fellow bloggers and writers, you are the point of blogging, and I salute you.

So, how did your blogging adventure begin?

  1. Happy Blogday! I've only just started so you're like a grownup compared to me. And I just joined twitter so it's baby steps. I feel a bit overwhelmed with it at times. Do you feel like it's eaten up a lot of your time?

  6. Happy Blogoversary! :) Congratulations on one year.

I started with no specific purpose in mind, except to post about things that interested me--I had been lurking around a few blogs and had some idea of what it was all about.

  9. That Spock could sure use some spoked punch and lighten up a bit. Could you imagine him lit at the Enterprise Christmas Party? Dancing and hitting up Ohura and the other females. Asking Kirk, "Do you think you're better than me?" Now that would be a great episode.

  12. Happy anniversary! I started out on wordpress, blogged for a few months where I got very few hits and far fewer comments. Then I moved to blogspot in February, got involved in some blogfests, and things have really taken off. I'm having a blast and I hope I'll still be going strong for my own anniversary next year. :)

I started because I found the blog of an old friend from college. I figured if she could do it - so could I. :-) I had been too nervous before finding the blog of someone I knew.

  26. Happy Blogoversary! Gosh - just a year? I thought you'd been 'at it' for ages... you got 400 followers in a year?!?! Go girl!

I have no memory of how I got started ... just playing I suppose. It's become pretty important to me... but I know just what you mean about the balance.

    Cheers! *raises glass of bubbly*

  27. Happy bloggiversary!!!! Here's to many more years with you :D
I started my blog while I was studying for my Master's Degree. I realised I was reading tons of Egyptological literature, but I'd stopped reading fiction altogether. As a means of keeping my sanity, I started my review blog to make sure I stepped away from my studies now and again to read something with a bit more imagination :)

  29. Happy anniversary.

I started like this, and it seems so long ago. I didn't really have much idea of what I was doing it for, until I discovered Microfiction Monday on Ellie's blog.

    So thank you Ellie.

  37. I thought it might be fun to catalogue my writing efforts - pretty much as a sort of diary - so I began. I, too, had little idea about blogging at first and my blog has been through various incarnations. I wouldn't be without it now, though. It's a key part of my identity as a writer.

    And Happy Blogoversary!
