A to Z Reflections & 300 Followers Competition Winner

Thank you to Elizabeth Mueller for the award.

The A to Z Challenge has come to an end and I shall miss it. I've made lots of new blogging friends and gained over a hundred followers. I've read posts that brought tears to my eyes, others that made me laugh, even spitting out my coffee on a few occasions. I pondered topics such as beginning of the Universe and whether a Kindle could really replace my beloved books. I learnt about other bloggers lives and even more about the life of writing.

If there was one negative point about the challenge, it was that due to the large number taking part, I didn't get around to visiting every entrants blog. I feel truly sad about this and if you were one of the blogs I never visited, please accept my apologies.

To my fellow A to Z'ers, Arlee Bird, and the other bloggers who helped to run the challenge, I salute you.

Now for the big prize announcement. Using Random.org, the winner of my 300 Followers Competition and a prize of $40 (£30) in Amazon vouchers is:

Old Kitty.

As you may have noticed I also passed 400 followers during the challenge and so it seems only fitting that I should offer another prize to celebrate. But what? I asked myself. After much thought I decided the prize should be a copy of the 2013: The Aftermath anthology in which my piece of flash fiction, Hometown, appears.

Using Random.org again, the winner is:

Simon Kewin.

Congratulations to you both. I will contact you shortly to arrange your prizes.

Don't forget to visit my blog on Wednesday, I have some exciting news to share with you.

  2. Congrats to the winners! And congrats on breaking 400!

Yeah it was almost too bad that there were so many of us participating, just because it was impossible to get around to everyone. But it seems like it was a positive experience overall.

    I'm looking forward to Wednesday's news! :)

  24. Hi Ellie,

Congratulations! I'm so happy that I got to know you; but truly I can't remember if it was from Lisa's BBF or from A-Z? It was all around the same time. You are great, and are a treasure.

    God bless,

    Kathy M.

  25. Yep, the toughest part of the Challenge was getting around to all the blogs. Luckily, I have a defeatist attitude, and knew from the start I'd never make it. But I did give it the ol' college try (a phrase I've never quite understood).

And hey, have you installed a sneeze guard on your monitor yet, to protect against future coffee spitting incidents? (Or at least a camera, to capture such events?)

  26. Yes, I agree - reaching all the other blogs took major effort and a huge time commitment. I'm going back now to those blogs I found early on and never made it back to. I am so tired....

  29. Wow! 300, 400, and onward! You did an excellent job in completing the Challenge and a valiant effort in trying to get through the list-- I didn't make it through either, but I found a ton of great blogs to which I will be returning and I'm going to continue on through that list.
Thank you for joining us in 2011.
    Now write that book!
